Ha Long wins ’ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City’ Award

Ha Long, the coastal city famous for its thousands of natural islands won 'ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City' Award hosted by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in Hanoi yesterday.

This is the first time the 2008 ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City Award to be presented to ten ASEAN representative cities which have achievements on enhancing living environment quality as well as on raising awareness of environmental protection and sustainable development among ASEAN member nations' people and leaders.

Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Pham Khoi Nguyen, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN Nicholas Tandi Dammen, Chairperson of ASEAN Working Group on Environmentally Sustainable Cities Liana Bratasida and officials attended the award presentation ceremony.

This activity lies within the framework of the activities of 11th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Environment held in Hanoi from October 5-10.
